The Devard & Devaughn Darling High School Senior Award is being offered to seniors that demonstrate strong community service, academic excellence, and a desire to continue their education at the collegiate level. Ten students preparing to enter college in the Fall of 2010 will be selected to receive $1000.00 to be used for educational expenses – housing, tuition, books, or required fees.

The mission of the As One Foundation is to encourage personal growth and development in young people through education, spirituality, and sports. Therefore the scholarship awards are based on the complete person, not just academic achievement. Students, who have experienced improvement in their grades, are socially conscience, and display leadership qualities are strong candidates for the Devard & Devaughn Darling High School Senior Award.

The As One Foundation was founded by NFL wide receiver Devard Darling in memory of his twin brother Devaughn Darling who tragically died during pre-season conditioning at Florida State University. Charlie’s Angles was birthed out of the heart of Sheila Lewis, the President of the motorcycle club. After losing her sister to Cancer she was determined to find a way to channel the strength and support of her sister and ensure her legacy. Being a motorcycle rider and knowing the desire her sister Charlie had to ride, what better way to pay tribute to her than bring together a group of women that possess the very qualities that made Charlie the unique and powerful individual she was?

March 29, 2010 – Devard Darling and the As One Foundation will present $10,000.00 in scholarships to high school seniors in the Fort Bend Independent School District. Applications are currently being accepted through May 31, 2010, and will be awarded at a scholarship luncheon in July, 2010.

CHIEFS, DEVARD DARLING AND OPERATION BREAKTHROUGH PARTNER FOR “2nd ANNUAL THANKSGIVING FOOD FOR FAMILIES”

KANSAS CITY, KS – The As One Foundation and its founder Chiefs Wide Receiver, Devard Darling has partnered with Operation Breakthrough to provide Thanksgiving dinners for 200 families in need. Food distribution will be held Tuesday, November 24, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Operation Breakthrough, 3039 Troost Avenue, Kansas City, MO.

Baskets will be distributed to families that utilize the services of Operation Breakthrough, a center that provides child care for underprivileged and at-risk youth. Darling and his family will be on hand to meet the families, sign autographs and take pictures. Devard a dedicated Christian stated “I have been blessed in my life and never had to worry about my next meal, but I know there are families struggling to have life’s basic needs met and if I can provide some type of relief for these families during this difficult time it’s my desire to do so.”
