Amy Malone, Girl in Charge Public Relations
LOS ANGELES, CA – GIC Public Relations, the Los Angeles Branch of the NFL Players Association, and WLCAC are working to provide toys for over 200 children in Watts, CA. Toys will be distributed by former NFL Players, and special guest TVOne’s Ultimate Merger finalist Frank Rice, Jason Newsome, and Cedric Bello to displaced families and single mother’s formerly homeless and/or re-entering society after incarceration. Distribution will begin at 1:00 p.m., at WLCAC’S, McCoy Plaza, at 9315 Firth Blvd, Watts, CA, on December 23, 2011.
The Christmas Celebration is an opportunity to reach out to the community and help those that are in need of assistance during the Holiday Season. Toys will be distributed to over 200 children living in McCoy Plaza, an apartment complex that provides shelter for displaced families and single mothers formerly homeless and/or re-entering society after incarceration. The goal is to provide toys for children who otherwise might not receive a gift this year, and identify those individuals in need of assistance with job interview preparation, health care information, or mentoring.
This year’s toy drive hit a major obstacle when its primary sponsor was unable to donate toys. GIC Public Relations reached out to colleagues in the entertainment industry, friends, and family. Support has been amazing with toys arriving daily.
The WLCAC mission is to improve the quality of life for the residents of Watts and neighboring communities. They envision an economically and culturally rich community that is peaceful, healthy and a place where anyone would be happy to live, work or play. The high quality services provided are relevant to the community in a way that is responsible, resourceful, and compassionate.
