Pastor Jamal Bryant Leads the National Trayvon Martin March for Justice

SANFORD, FL – African American Clergy and Civil Rights Leaders from around the country will participate in a rally and march on Monday, March 26, 2012, in Sanford, FL in an effort to demand justice for slain Miami-Dade teen Trayvon Martin. Led by Pastor Jamal Bryant the rally will be held at Centennial Park, 400 Park Ave, Sanford, FL, at 4:00 p.m., where they will kick-off the National Trayvon Martin March for Justice. Organizers and supporters will head to Sanford City Hall, 300 North Park Ave, Sanford FL, to attend a City Council Meeting which will be held at 5:00 p.m. Immediately following the meeting Sybrina Fulton, mother of Trayvon Martin will speak.

The National Trayvon Martin March for Justice has garnered support from some of the nation’s most influential people and organizations in the African American community. Confirmed participants include Reverend Jesse Jackson, representatives from the NAACP, Michael Baisden, representatives from the Central Florida Urban League, members of the AME Ministerial Alliance, Students from Howard University, Bethune Cookman University, Florida A&M University, Morehouse College, Spelman College, University of Central Florida, the African American Student Union, National Pan-Hallenic Council, and concerned citizens.

“The slaying of Trayvon Martin has now grown into a movement against the undervalued lives of young African American’s in today’s society. This is a call for a new generation of civil right’s activist to let the nation know we will not stand for injustice against African Americans or any other minority,” said march organizer Pastor Jamal Bryant. “This is often called the Hip Hop Generation; well now it’s time for Hip Hop’s voice to be heard.”
Protesters are asked to bring their voices and a bag of Skittles in honor of Trayvon.

About Pastor Jamal Bryant
Pastor Jamal Bryant is the founder of the Empowerment Temple Church in Baltimore, MD. Under his leadership the church has grown from 43 members to over 12,000 in a few short years making it the fastest growing church in the history of the AME church. With a strong presence in the community members of the congregation were responsible for registering more voters than any church in the state of Maryland.

Prior to his call to the ministry, Pastor Jamal Bryant served as the national youth and college director of the NAACP for 6 years. He brought a fresh wind of enthusiasm while leading almost 70,000 young people worldwide on non-violent campaigns and social activism.

Pastor Jamal Bryant is a leader who has been able to relate to people from all walks of life. He then studied at Oxford University in Great Britain and earned a doctorate from The Graduate Theological Foundation.

His commitment to people drove him to establish the JHB Hope Academy in Liberia, Africa, build a 1000 seat sanctuary to service the spiritual needs of the Liberian people, and participate in voter mobilization for the first free election in Johannesburg, South Africa whereby Nelson Mandela was elected. In addition he continued his civil rights activism here in the states as well by leading the Occupy the Dream Movement with Russell Simmons and Dr. Ben Chavez in January of 2012 to raise awareness about economic inequity in the black community.

Pastor Jamal Bryant has written 4 books with over 100,000 copies sold. Most notably, World War Me which won the African American Publishers Award. He has such a commanding presence on the Internet that over 8,000 international viewers watch his services online as well as over 150,000 Facebook and Twitter followers.
